I'm proud to announce that I am part of the management team for Great New Metal, a business designed to provide exposure and generate revenue for emerging acts in the world of heavy music. Other members of management include Brian Shields (founder/publisher)and Rebecca Firstenfeld (business advisor). My own role being that of business consultant. Our Board of Advisors consists of well-known and emerging musicians as well as industry insiders - Paul Waggoner (BTBAM), Paul Masvidal (Cynic), Brian Fair (Shadows Fall), and Cary Geare (Sons of Aurelius). Unlike so much of what’s on the metal web, GNM is not a place for haters because we only focus on great music from across all sub-genres so there's something for every metal taste. In my particular case, I'm a metal head from way back and I've retained a flare for the melodic, the epic, and the powerful. I lean heavily toward ethnic, regional or folk influenced metal, but still have a soft spot for the old school.
